Who they are
Robert Frewen is the CLA’s senior representative for the north of England. The CLA represents landowners, farmers, and rural businesses across the country. Robert’s reach in Upper Swaledale and the wider Yorkshire Dales is the kind of network a documentary photographer cannot replicate cold. He lives two miles beyond Reeth.
What they have contributed
Robert made the warm introductions to a number of Upper Swaledale farmers ahead of the August 2026 Yorkshire Dales trip. Without those introductions, the Swaledale farming strand of the archive - field barns, traditional grazing, hill-farming families with multi-generation continuity - would not have a warm route in. The introductions are now anchored to the 11-16 August trip and several subjects are in the pipeline because of them.
