About the IR look
Infrared photography captures light beyond what the human eye can see. Vegetation reflects infrared light intensely, appearing bright white. Skies darken dramatically. Skin takes on an ethereal, luminous quality.
In Dune: Part Two, Greig Fraser shot the Giedi Prime sequences with modified ARRI Alexa cameras fitted with infrared-pass filters, creating the striking alien monochrome that defined those scenes - high contrast, glowing highlights, crushed blacks, with a halation bloom around bright edges.
This tool simulates that look by remapping colour channels to approximate infrared film sensitivity, with dedicated sky darkening that detects blue-dominant pixels and crushes them the way real IR film would. Highlight glow lifts vegetation and skin into that ethereal luminosity, while bloom, grain, and vignetting complete the look. Try the Wood Effect preset for classic IR landscape photography - white trees against jet-black skies.
